With the early signing period quickly closing in, the Auburn football coaching staff have been working hard to improve the recruiting class of 2022 and secure impact players for future rosters. Last weekend’s ranked SEC matchup versus the #10 Ole Miss Rebels drew plenty of visitors to the Plains, including notable LSU commit JaDarian Rhym.

Another important prospect that witnessed the Tigers’ beatdown of the #10 Rebels was 5-star safety Kamari Wilson. Currently playing for the IMG Academy, Wilson is listed as the #4 prospect out of the state of Florida and the #1 safety in the recruiting class of 2022.

Though Wilson may be a ways off from announcing his official decision, he told 247Sports’ Jason Caldwell that he plans to narrow his choices to his top five schools soon, and Auburn football will definitely be on the list:

"“Auburn is definitely going to be in there,” Wilson said of his top five colleges. “I love the defensive back coaches (Derek Mason and Zac Etheridge) and how they practice. He (Mason) showed me the film one time and I love how they practice to put their players in a good position to make plays. They just don’t do drills, they really do drills to help in the game.”"

Wilson has previously visited Georgia (officially), LSU, and Texas A&M in addition to Auburn, and he has an official visit planned to Southern Cal. It’s likely he’ll return for an official visit to the Plains for either Mississippi State or the Iron Bowl.

The Dawgs are currently the Tigers’ biggest competitor for the 5-star, who enjoyed his official UGA visit for the Arkansas game. Wilson has become a top target for Kirby Smart, but his relationship with Auburn safety Smoke Monday could keep him interested in Auburn football.

Be on the lookout for Wilson’s Top 5 schools as we wait for him to declare where he will continue his football career.
