Even Auburn football fans aren’t about to start comparing the ‘struggling’ Alabama Crimson Tide and the surging UTSA Roadrunners.
Alabama didn’t beat LSU convincingly on Saturday, this just two weeks after the Tide were slow in taking over their matchup against Tennessee. Of course, they still won both and are still in a CFP slot, but anything short of utter dominance is seen as sub-par in Tuscaloosa. That’s why they loathe losing to ‘little brother’ so frequently.
As for Conference USA’s UTSA, the Roadrunners have run through conference play–with only Western Kentucky posing any sort of challenge–while knocking off Illinois and Memphis in non-conference play. They are currently undefeated and ranked #15, one spot ahead of Auburn football.
Tiger fans love an underdog, but this kind of talk undermines their own schedule. They weren’t about to allow Fox Sports’ RJ Young to get away with comparing ‘Bama and UTSA:
This sort of talk likely stems from the outrage over the CFP’s bias for the Tide, but such takes are unreasonable.
Because simply put, the WKU Hilltoppers wouldn’t put up 46 points on the Crimson Tide defense. Are we sure UTSA remains undefeated through Week 10 of the season with an SEC schedule.
