Auburn basketball delivered in every conceivable way on opening night against the Morehead State Eagles this past Tuesday.
Bruce Pearl’s squad got off to a hot start and maintained a game-long lead en route to winning 77-54 and covering a -16 point spread in the process.
Now, they look to win by a similar margin against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks of the Sunbelt ahead of a several-week road trip that includes a trip to Tampa before heading to the Bahamas for Thanksgiving.
Let’s take a look at the Auburn basketball betting lines, odds, and TV information while laying a few predictions on the line (all lines courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook):
Louisiana-Monroe vs. Auburn basketball Odds, Spread and Total
Spread:
Auburn: -25 (-105)
Morehead State: +25 (-115)
Total:
141.5 (Over -110/Under -110)
Louisana-Monroe vs. Auburn Pick and Prediction
Well, when a spread is this large, it’s for a reason. The Warhawks come into this game having lost by 62 points to LSU this past Tuesday in a beating that gave no inkling that ULM could hang with Auburn in any way.
They were outrebounded 47-26 to a Bayou Tigers frontline that is nowhere near as physically imposing as its Plains Tigers counterpart. Walker Kessler and Jabari Smith should feast on a frontline that features one player over six-foot-eight.
Louisiana-Monroe also turned the ball over a whopping 25 times. Wendell Green Jr., Devan Cambridge, and K.D. Johnson are likely to create havoc all night long in the passing lanes and with physical on-ball defense.
After the Tigers were able to dismantle a Morehead State team coming off of an impressive Ohio Valley Conference tournament win and March Madness appearance, laying 25 points on Auburn against a team that has won just 16 of its last 56 games and looked hopeless against an inferior SEC team never seemed like such a simple hammer.
The Auburn Arena should be rocking with secondary market prices for tickets to this game in the $100s with a big home football game Saturday morning. Don’t overthink this one.
