Auburn football QB Bo Nix proved he was one tough son of a gun(slinger) when he played on a broken ankle for almost the entirety of the fourth quarter of Saturday’s collapse against Mississippi State.

That injury should keep Nix out of the season’s remaining two contests on the road against South Carolina and at home in the Iron Bowl.

Nix took to Twitter to post a hopeful and spiritual message regarding his road to recovery and next steps.

And in true Auburn fashion, some of his Tiger teammates lifted him up in support:

The loss of Nix is one that could be spun a few different ways for Auburn football fans. One way to look at it is that it’s not as big of a deal as it may seem, since the Tigers are still favored over South Carolina and slated to be an underdog against Alabama.

That’d be the case whether it were Finley, Nix, or even Dematrius Davis under center for AU, though.

The alternative is to freak out and assume the offense is about to drop off. And it might. Finley has never proven to be much of an accurate passer, even completing just 56% of his passes during his big showing out game against Georgia State.

Even that has a flip side. Maybe Finley thrives after more time learning the offense and with defenses having very little film on him.

Either way, it’s pretty damn sad that we have likely seen the last of Nix in 2021. Here’s to a speedy recovery for #10.
