Well, Auburn football fans, this season wasn’t what you wanted or hoped for. Not yet, at least.
A win over the #3 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl at Jordan-Hare Stadium this Saturday–with ESPN College Gameday in attendance, no less–would certainly change the tone of this so-far disastrous final month.
It wouldn’t completely erase the stench of three straight losses following a 6-2 start that had some speaking of an SEC Championship rematch with Georgia and even a College Football Playoff appearance. But it would at least send fans into bowl season happy.
And it would also press the pause button on all the different rumors about potentially departing Tigers. First-year Bryan Harsin is already being linked to a new program, in his native Pacific Northwest with the Washington Huskies, and Tank Bigsby is thought to be unhappy and waiting for his chance to bolt according to many down bad fans.
While there is plenty of chatter about different Tigers looking to the transfer portal the moment this borderline worst-case scenario season ends, there is also talk about certain players having interest in the Plains.
Harsin did a good job recruiting in his first season given the late start to the game he got, and at least Jarquez Hunter and Jocko Willis figure to have roles in 2022 and beyond.
This year, though, he could reshape the narrative surrounding the program following a season that started out with promise but got as cold as the oncoming winter weather during the final stretch.
These 2 transfer portal targets are on their radar and could help accomplish just that:
