TJ Finley option #2 after a potential Auburn football transfer: Louisiana Tech
If TJ Finley just wants to return back to his home state, there’s a ready made transfer destination in Louisiana Tech.
While Ruston, Louisiana is nowhere close to Finley’s hometown of Ponchatoula, the Bulldogs previously registered interest in the six-foot-seven gunslinger in his initial recruitment out of high school.
Given his SEC experience, it’d be okay to assume that Finley would be the starter in his final two eligible seasons (assuming he uses his extra COVID year) if he were to land with the current Conference-USA squad.
Current QB Austin Kendall will be gone by the time Finley is eligible, as will be backup Aaron Allen. Luke Anthony, JD Head, and Caleb Holstein will all still be around, but none are worth playing over Finley. 3-star Class of 2022 QB Landry Lyddy from Shreveport will have a chance to earn the job by the time Finley would be a factor.
After being at LSU and Auburn, Finley would be a big fish in a small pond with LA Tech, but making the Group of Five jump would be the best way to ensure a starting job for his final collegiate seasons.
