Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin probably had a different picture in mind on where the Tigers would be at this moment in time on October 30th, following a Saturday night victory over Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin that was, as it would turn out, the season’s signature victory.
That, of course, would be the last victory of the regular season, and possibly of the entire 2021 calendar year.
We all know about the four straight November losses, with the final three being of the particularly painful variety due to three straight Saturdays of blowing double-digit leads.
Now, the Auburn family must keep its eyes forward on the future, which could include a Final Four appearance in basketball, but must include a step forward on the gridiron in 2022.
And that step forward only happens if Bryan Harsin and co. are up to the task on the recruiting trail.
There could be some major holes to fill if guys like Bo Nix or Tank Bigsby take to the transfer portal, with Nix giving credence to the idea in saying he was weighing his options and Bigsby dropping cryptic messages on social media. TJ Finley may be unhappy being buried on the QB depth chart too with Dematrius Davis aiming for playing time under a new offensive coordinator and Holden Geriner incoming as a 4-star freshman next season.
