Auburn football: 4-star UGA DL commit cancels today’s visit to AU
The offensive coordinator vacancy is not keeping Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin and his staff from tearing it up on the recruiting trail, but today brings some bad news. Despite receiving a visit from Auburn coaches earlier this week, 4-star defensive lineman Tyre West has cancelled his official visit to the Plains.
West has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for well over a year, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from recruiting him. Florida State, Tennessee, and Auburn football have been pushing hard for the UGA commit in the last few months and given him a lot to think about.
According to West, the whole process has been extremely stressful, per Auburn Live, and he’s ready to make his official decision and be finished:
"“I will announce my final decision next Wednesday and I can’t wait to be done with it,” West said. “It has been stressful. It has gotten really tough trying to figure out which school is best for me. I have had coaches in here a lot, I talk to different schools every day, and it is going to be tough. I just can’t wait for December 15 to get here so I can sign and have my mind made up.”"
While West has made strong relationship connections with the coaching staff at FSU, the allure of early playing time has the potential to draw him to Tennessee. With his official visit to Auburn cancelled, it could mean that West already knows enough about the Plains and is ready to commit, or it could mean he’s narrowed his decision to just Rocky Top and FSU.
Either way, Auburn football will not get the chance to officially host the 4-star defensive lineman. We’ll have to wait until December 15 for Tyre West’s final decision.
