Auburn football is in need of a reload through the transfer portal and the Class of 2022 for several different reasons.

The first and most obvious reason revolves around the number of departing seniors. Interestingly enough, that number may not be as high as originally thought, with an extra year of eligibility being granted to every player in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 season may well have left a sour enough taste in the mouths of many Tigers to goad several into returning.

Then again, a fifth year of playing in the punishing SEC might not be as desirable as it sounds. Not for a program that is far from guaranteed to win anything of significance.

Bryan Harsin and co. shouldn’t prepare for there to be a slew of returns from his senior class. With the way the season ended, with four straight losses and three of the blown double-digit lead variety, looking forward should be the game-plan for his support staff.

Of course, said support staff is missing a key piece right now. The offensive coordinator role previously occupied by Mike Bobo has been open since November 29th.

The Auburn football program should have probably learned from last year’s late arrival to the coaching hiring party that not having your staff filled out puts you behind the 8-ball.

Regardless, they have a head coach who may be willing to shoulder the load in the play-calling department, making these two targets on the offensive side of the ball that hit the transfer portal today possible options for the Tigers:
