Steven Pearl makes his Auburn basketball coaching debut tonight as Bruce Pearl wraps up his two-game suspension from the NCAA for Chuck Person’s violations back in 2017.

If he is getting the same level of preparedness as Wes Flanigan got from the Tigers in his coaching debut this past Saturday against Nebraska, North Alabama is in trouble.

Auburn made more shots than it missed against Nebraska, assisting on 66% of them en route to a 99-68 throttling of the Cornhuskers. It was at an event titled Holiday Hoopsgiving and Flanigan’s men hoopsgave Fred Hoiberg and co. their second straight 30+ point loss.

With AU students graduating this past weekend, the Tigers will likely have a light crowd against the Lions tonight. Still, one of the greatest shows in college hoops is returning to the Auburn Arena looking to continue their current six-game win streak with the head coach’s son in charge.

North Alabama vs. Auburn Pick and Prediction

So let’s review the tape here. North Alabama is 0-1 against the SEC this season, losing to Mississippi State by 26 on opening night. That loss could be a harbinger of things to come against the Tigers.

Auburn is a big step up in weight class from the Bulldogs, but the Lions have lost to the likes of Manhattan College and Iona…though the Crimson Tide has fallen to the latter as well this year.

With the way the Tigers are playing right now, even a 28-point win seems well within reason against a team that has stood out as a mid-major against fellow in-state schools this season.

Pick: Auburn -27.5 (-110)
