After weeks of searching, Auburn football has finally found the replacement for former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Current Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Austin Davis will be heading to the Plains to join first-year head coach Bryan Harsin and his staff.

Davis, who started at Southern Miss as a walk-on, went on to become a two-time All-Conference USA quarterback before playing for seven years in the NFL. He earned 10 starts in his career with five different NFL teams and racked up 2,548 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The former QB joined the Seahawks’ staff in 2019 and was promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2020, and helped coach Seattle’s Russell Wilson to an extremely successful season, per OA News:

"During Davis’ first season as quarterbacks coach, Seattle’s Russell Wilson earned his eighth Pro Bowl appearance during a year in which he completed just under 69 percent of his passes for 4,212 yards, 40 touchdowns and 13 interceptions."

Auburn Live’s Justin Hokanson confirmed that Davis has received a verbal offer from the University, and has accepted, but logistics are still being worked out due to the ongoing NFL season.

Part of the draw for Austin Davis was incoming 4-star quarterback Holden Geriner, who is fresh off a state title and ready to wear orange and blue for Auburn football next season, and Harsin believes Davis is the perfect guy to develop Geriner into an SEC-caliber QB.

Reports indicate that Bryan Harsin will do the playcalling while Austin Davis will coordinate the offense and coach the quarterbacks in an attempt to repair last season’s lackluster offense. At 32, Davis’ youth in addition to his experience in the NFL could be a major attraction for recruits looking to ultimately be drafted.

With Bo Nix officially in the NCAA transfer portal, Davis will be working with TJ Finley, Dematrius Davis, and Holden Geriner.
