After days of rumors, Auburn football’s three-year starting quarterback Bo Nix confirmed to the world that he would be leaving the Plains and entering the NCAA transfer portal. Nix graduated from Auburn and will use his remaining years of eligibility elsewhere as a grad transfer.
So far, not much detail has been revealed about Nix’s decision and the process surrounding his entry into the transfer portal, but he appeared this morning on The Next Round to answer questions about moving on from the Auburn football program. Right away, Nix confirmed that the door is shut with the Tigers, and there’s no chance he will be returning to the program.
When asked about a supposed list of demands that Nix and his father brought to the coaching staff prior to his entry to the portal, Nix refuted the claim, explaining that there was clear communication between himself and head coach Bryan Harsin from the beginning:
"“All that happened was we just had a conversation, and I told him what I was thinking and Coach told me what he was thinking and I’m not going to get into the specifics, that’s personal, in between him and I, but I do think it was a great conversation to have and the open line of communication was there from both Coach and I and it was an important decision and there’s a lot to go into it.”"
The former Tiger went on to speak very highly of Harsin, crediting him for a lot of the development and growth he experienced during the 2021 season. Nix said that despite what everyone may think, he has a very good relationship with Harsin and the separation went very smoothly, leaving no hard feelings between the staff and their former QB.
Although there are many rumors circulating about Bo Nix’s decision to enter the transfer portal, we hope he does well at his next school.
