Auburn football’s three-year starting quarterback Bo Nix has officially entered the transfer portal and is looking for a new team next season. One of six former Tigers to enter the portal following the end of the season, Nix reveals that he could be considering an option close to home.

Though the quarterback insists that he has not yet made a decision about where he will choose to go, he has narrowed down the field a little and has been in touch with several coaches, including one from the SEC West.

Auburn fans and Ole Miss fans alike have been speculating about Nix potentially transferring to Oxford, but it became more of a reality this morning when Nix confirmed on The Next Round that he has indeed texted with Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin. Though they haven’t spoken on the phone yet, it seems apparent that Kiffin is interested in turning Nix into a Rebel:

"“I have not spoken on the phone with Coach Kiffin. I have texted him but it’s not been–they’re in the middle of Sugar Bowl practice so he’s pretty busy himself. He’s obviously trying on his end but he’s trying to win a game too and give Matt Corral his best chance to finish out his season."

Nix’s words seem to confirm that while the Rebs are in the middle of practicing for a big New Year’s Six bowl, Lane Kiffin is putting forth an effort to recruit Nix to his program.

When asked if he was against playing for a team that would go head-to-head with Auburn football in the future, Nix said it would be difficult to face the Tigers but it won’t truly factor into choosing his next school and he would consider playing in the SEC again. His primary concern is to join a program where he can immediately play and make an impact.

With Matt Corral on his way out of Oxford, could Bo Nix soon be on his way in?
