The Reese’s Senior Bowl takes place in Mobile, Alabama every year, and is considered by many to be where the NFL Draft really starts. Top seniors from all over the country will gather in Mobile to play an all-star game of sorts where the teams are coached by NFL coaches. The Senior Bowl includes much more than just the game, though, and this year Auburn football won’t only be represented by a player.
One of the events during Game Week includes the Senior Bowl Summit, which is happening a little differently in years past. Where the Summit used to be a more informal discussion about sports and the industry, this year it will feature a moderated panel led by ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit.
Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin will be there, along with Alabama head coach Nick Saban, in addition to several other notable college coaches including Michigan State’s Mel Tucker, Texas’s Steve Sarkisian, and Penn State’s James Franklin:
The Senior Bowl website describes the event as a “fun and lighthearted” panel where the college coaches will share stories on a wide variety of topics including recruiting, favorite players, and best memories. Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy detailed the excitement for the upcoming panel, per AL.com:
"“I don’t know when the current Alabama coach and the current Auburn coach have ever been on a stage together before, but it’s going to happen at the Senior Bowl Summit,” Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy said in an interview on Mobile’s SportsTalk 99.5 FM. “It’s a great lineup and it’s going to be a lot of fun. We’re excited about it. … It’s going to be a panel-style event with fun questions. I want them to be answering questions you don’t normally get in press conferences.”"
The Senior Bowl Summit will take place on Tuesday, February 1 at the Saenger Theater in Mobile, AL from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
