Obviously, there are no trades in college football. But with Auburn football landing an Oregon transfer after seeing former Tigers QB Bo Nix decide that the Ducks were the best landing spot for him moving forward, Twitter is talking transfer portal trades.
This makes sense, since losing Nix was a massive blow to the team. Believing there will be a return for the departed signal-caller at least softens the blow.
Coming to the Plains in 2022 will be third-year DT Jayson Jones, a Calera, Alabama native, who was offered by the Tigers in 2019 and ultimately de-committed from Alabama to head to the Pac-12
This Oregon fan isn’t a huge fan of the so-called ‘swap’:
Meanwhile, these Auburn football fans didn’t quite seem to know what to think about it:
The addition of Jones is a big one in both a literal and on-field sense. With 10 games under his belt, including the Pac-12 Championship game earlier this month, Jones brings big-game experience to a program that only knows big games when it comes to conference play.
The SEC is a significant step up from a conference play perspective, but Jones played at one of the highest levels in the country playing high school ball in the great state of Alabama.
We’ll have to see what happens during weeks when Nix struggles and Jones makes a big play what the Auburn family will have to say.
