BGB lists Auburn football as Caleb Williams transfer portal landing spot
Auburn football was one of five schools that noted Oklahoma Twitter personality Big Game Boomer listed as a Caleb Williams transfer portal landing spot.
The Sooners gunslinger, who took over for a struggling Spencer Rattler in October and lost only two starts to Big 12 Championship competitors Baylor and Oklahoma State, has entered his name into the portal but hasn’t written off a return to OU.
That AU was listed is a mild shock, but so is Williams entering the portal in the first place. Just yesterday we here at Fly War Eagle wrote off a Redditor’s rumor of the 5-star Washington D.C. product considering the Plains due to a NIL deal. Maybe it’s not so far-fetched?
Here were the five schools named by BGB as potential transfer portal destinations for Caleb Williams:
USC makes sense as the top landing spot considering Lincoln Riley was the head coach of Oklahoma when Williams came aboard. A return to OU should still be seen as possible considering Rattler’s departure to South Carolina, though clearly Williams wasn’t too big a fan of the coaching turnover and how it went down.
LSU would be an interesting option since Myles Brennan announced he’d be returning to the program under Brian Kelly, and Georgia is the most frightening option considering the talent level in their next several recruiting classes and the ready-to-win scenario Williams would be walking into.
Then, finally, there’s the Tigers, who offer the most of any school in the country in terms of NIL potential, but are still a work in progress roster-wise.
The Oklahoma QB transfer’s arrival would hopefully come with several WR follow-up transfers , because the current Auburn football receiver room, and while we’re at it, OL, are not exactly top-line perks that would welcome Williams to the Plains.
