Auburn football fans are not sold on Zach Calzada being the clear #1 QB heading into the 2022 season. Their reaction to his commitment yesterday certainly indicated that they don’t feel Bo Nix has been adequately replaced yet.

Though the gun is certainly being jumped, perhaps that’s why the coaching staff is allegedly still looking for more arms to add to the QB room.

Calzada may be the final signal-caller they add, but these 2 transfer portal QB options could still be added if the opportunity arises for Bryan Harsin and new OC/QB coach Austin Davis:

Auburn football transfer portal QB option #1: Caleb Williams

Of course, the referenced report hyperlinked above relates to the interest the Tigers coaching staff has in Caleb Williams.

Jeffrey Lee had this to say regarding AU still being in the mix for another transfer portal QB:

"Williams officially entered the transfer portal earlier this week and understandably several schools came calling. Auburn was one of them. It won’t be easy for Auburn to sign Williams as it faces a long list of competitors. However, knowledgable sources believe Auburn has “a good shot.”"

We’ve covered the Williams-to-Auburn angle every which way from Sunday, so we won’t talk too much about what we already have. I will say, though, that just as some may not see Bo Nix’s presence as a reason for Williams not to be scared away from Oregon, that may be the same case with Calzada, considering his lack of success against the SEC West out of the two teams from Alabama.
