Auburn football fans needed something to feel better after watching the Georgia Bulldogs win their first championship since 1980 on Monday night. Alabama winning its second consecutive title wouldn’t exactly have been reason to celebrate, but at least it would have been the status quo. Now, both of AU’s top rivals are champions in the not-so-roarin’ twenties, and Auburn is 6-7 after losing five straight games to end the season.

But that’s football.

In basketball, Bruce Pearl has his guys knocking off just about everyone–UCONN narrowly escaped from the Battle 4 Atlantis with an OT win–en route to the #4 ranking in the country.

On Tuesday night, the Tigers took the 2021-22 season to a new gear when they blew the doors of the Crimson Tide in the second half of basketball’s Iron Bowl before the Tide made a failed comeback attempt late.

81-77 was the final, and many in the Auburn family had an all-time night deep frying memes in the Alabama men’s basketball Twitter account’s mentions for the final score…and just about anything else tweeted by that account.

They weren’t alone in taking to the bird app and talking that talk after handing Alabama its second ‘L’ in as many nights. Check out what past Auburn football stars and a future dual-sport Tiger had to say about what they saw in Coleman Coliseum, which included stereo crane kicks, a Crimson Tide celebratory gesture, when the final buzzer sounded:

The win could have AU sniffing the #1 rank in the country given Baylor’s loss to Texas Tech last night. It’s certainly great to be an Auburn Tiger right now.
