Auburn football: Damari Alston recruiting Jack Pyburn to the Plains
Auburn football’s coaching staff has been tearing it up on the recruiting trail following the 2021 season, and the Tigers could gain their next commitment in just over a week.
Jack Pyburn, a 3-star EDGE out of Jacksonville, FL, originally committed to the University of Minnesota on June 20, but did not sign with the Golden Gophers on early signing day. On January 6, he announced on social media that he would be de-committing from UM and reopening his recruitment.
Pyburn and his family spent last weekend on the Plains for an official visit with the Auburn football program, and the EDGE walked away impressed, per Auburn Rivals:
"“The vision that Coach Harsin has for the program is really special and I really like the way he’s moving the program and the things he believes in and embodies,” said Pyburn. “It’s similar things to what I believe in.“Also Coach Watts, the way he coaches, the way he goes about things is really, really impressive to me. Also, just the culture and the creed of Auburn is unlike anything else.”"
Pyburn also noted that he was a big fan of the way Coach Harsin and his staff use the EDGEs on the field, and is optimistic about how thin the room is on the Plains with T.D. Moultry preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Now, Pyburn has named Auburn and Miami as his two finalists and is set to make his official decision on January 27. The EDGE is attracting attention not only from the Auburn coaches but from the Auburn commits as well. Class of 2022 running back commit Damari Alston would like to see Pyburn in orange and blue:
The 6’3″ 255-pound EDGE finished up his senior year with monster stats including 109 tackles, 14 sacks, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He will sign with his future college on national signing day in February.
