Alabama will be gunning for revenge when they visit the Auburn Arena on Feb. 1

Auburn basketball picked up a much-needed win on January 11th against Alabama in Coleman Coliseum, the day after the gridiron Gumps got gassed by the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship. It was a glorious 48-hour stretch for Tiger fans that hate the Crimson Tide more than they hate green flies in the summer.

It came after a huge late-game run for Alabama, who scored 14 unanswered points to make things interesting in the fourth quarter. Of course, Jahvon Quinerly getting gun-shy in the face of an NBA All-Star level closeout from Jabari Smith was the undoing of the Tide’s chances of knocking off East Central Alabama’s college basketball blue blood.

Let’s not write off that run, though. There’s legitimate scoring dynamite in the ‘Bama backcourt, with 42 points a game being poured in by the Quinerly-Jaden Shackelford-Keon Ellis triumvirate. J.D. Davison is also starting to heat up from the field, pouring in 17 against Missouri in their revenge win against the Tigers of Columbia. When these two teams meet again, perimeter scoring could be the key for Alabama having a chance at knocking off big brother.
