While The Year of the Tiger isn’t exactly panning out in the world of Auburn football, it’s both a good omen and a prediction of what is to come for Auburn basketball. Bruce Pearl’s first-ranked squad hasn’t lost a game since November, and that one loss happened in 3OT and was only a four-point difference.

Since that overseas matchup with UCONN, Auburn basketball has been unstoppable, running down their opponents and rising in the AP and Coaches Polls. However, no Tiger victory has been more fun than last night’s dominant win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Riding the high of a victory over #4 Baylor, the Tide was all but convinced they were going to break Auburn basketball’s winning streak in the Jungle. But when the buzzer sounded after the second half, the Tigers beat the Tide 100-81.

As usual, depth was a great strength for Auburn, and Wendell Green Jr. led the way with 23 of the 44 bench points. Walker Kessler just missed out on his second triple-double this season while Zep Jasper’s lockdown defense kept the Tide from scoring time and again.

Following the game, Bruce Pearl, his basketball team, and the Auburn basketball fans celebrated a series sweep after beating Alabama both times and moving to 21-1:

Auburn basketball will get on the road to face the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday, with tip-off at noon from Athens.
