All Hogs’ Andy Hodges is not a fan of Auburn football head coach (as of this moment) Bryan Harsin in the slightest.
Listing unnamed sources from Arkansas State, Hodges revealed that members of the Red Wolves program are shocked Harsin was even able to last this long in the SEC with the Tigers.
Of course ‘this long’ is a strange way to frame a tenure that’s lasted a little over a year at this point.
Regardless, Hodges shared the source’s viewpoint and added some of his own spice to the mix:
"A lot of people over in Jonesboro have honestly been wondering how it took that long for it to happen. They had their fill of Harsin at Arkansas State in less than a year and a source said he was there when athletics director Terry Mohajir told him he was out.Harsin was the pick because Auburn may be the most dysfunctional place in the SEC.Throwing a jerk like Harsin into that mix was a lit match near a gas can. It was really just a matter of time before it blew up."
Calling Harsin a jerk could end up being premature, though the stories that exist on message boards and through folk lore on the Plains don’t paint a pretty picture of the Pacific Northwest native.
As for Auburn being the most dysfunctional state in the SEC? Well, Knoxville has been far from hunky dory the past few years. Vanderbilt fielded a winless team in 2020.
But I digress.
To wrap a bow on this thing, Hodges stressed that the search firm that was hired to ultimately find Harsin didn’t do enough digging into his character after weaponizing Derek Mason’s departure:
"You can bet your last nickel when an assistant football coach walks away from nearly a half-million a year there’s more to it than anybody knows. All anybody had to do, apparently, was contact some folks at Arkansas State."
Hot takes will continue to pour out in the coming weeks no matter when this gets resolved. Auburn football is at the center of the college football world for the worst of reasons right now.
