Saturday Down South did Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin dirty by comparing him to former Alabama coaching hire Mike Price.

Harsin had his team competitive in every game but two (Georgia, Texas A&M) and was a couple of toss-up calls away from owning a winning record in his first foray into SEC waters during the 2021 season.

Price never coached a game because of questionable behavior. Harsin is keeping his job because rumors about his own behavior lacked verity. Any article centered on Price’s behavior shouldn’t have Harsin in the featured image.

To his credit, SDS’ Dave Hooker does do a good job differentiating the levels of scandal the two men possess:

"Price was 0-0 in zero seasons at Alabama despite being hired in December of 2002. Harsin has never been seen in a strip club. Price partook in such entertainment shortly after spring practice. Let’s all thank our lucky stars that there wasn’t social media and camera phones back then. I’m just fine going the rest of my life without seeing any coach, but especially Price, receive a lap dance."

That said, Harsin still deserves so much more credit than being reduced to a punchline in the vain of Price.

Since the Auburn Board of Trustees threw this man’s name through the mud, putting a million pounds of pressure and scrutiny on his family in the process, Harsin has responded by vowing his allegiance to the program and showing up to an Auburn basketball game and standing in the student section.

At this point, we should all move on from the mess that the BoT created and allow the man the chance to compete in the SEC with players he recruited himself out of high school, as well as the upperclassmen leaders he convinced to stick it out for one more year with Auburn football before casting any more judgement.
