Auburn football fans worried Colby Wooden may hit transfer portal
Auburn football may have retained Bryan Harsin as the head coach for the 2022 season, but that doesn’t mean the entire band is getting back together.
After an offseason filled with transfer portal departures, the Tigers could get hit with a significant one about a month and a half out of the team’s annual A-Day spring game.
This one would hurt. Severely.
Some Tiger fans believe that there’s a legitimate chance that Colby Wooden–who originally announced his intentions to return to the program along with several other upperclassmen leaders this winter–will be the next Auburn man to hit the transfer portal this offseason:
Auburn football message boards are already running wild with the rumor of Wooden’s possible transfer portal entry. While that is far from a guarantee that the story is solid, there is often smoke that appears before the full-on blaze that eventually occurs. The Harsin issues were forecasted by the Auburn family, which is quite plugged in and intertwined, before the story was pushed by any beat writers.
As for Wooden’s departure…it would be massive in all the wrong ways. Wooden led the DL with the most tackles in 2021 and also collected five sacks and seven QB hurries for an AU defensive front that allowed the fewest rushes per carry on the Plains since the days of Nick Fairley and the 2010 National Champion Tigers.
Where this would leave Colby’s younger brother Caleb, a Class of 2022 commit, remains to be seen.
