Jake ‘Jboy’ Crain has an opinion that wouldn’t be unfit to be held as canon among most Auburn football fans regarding the WR coaching job:

Crain thinks former Tigers cornerback Trovon Reed should be the next wide receivers coach for Auburn University.

Such a hire would be genius for a program that could use some goodwill with the Auburn family after the nonsense the Board of Trustees has put the fanbase through this offseason. There’s been far too many recruiting losses likely caused by behind-closed-doors drama that almost caused a second straight offseason featuring a head coaching search.

Auburn football fans agree:

Could Trovon Reed eventually be considered for the Auburn football HC position?

The Thibodaux, Louisiana native has been a helpful recruiting tool already for the Tigers, particularly proving effective in luring Austin Ausberry to the Plains during the 2022 offseason.

As for why he’d be a great hire moving forward? Well, he could be on the short-list for the next Auburn football coach if the BoT is truly sold on making sure Bryan Harsin isn’t long for the program.

Reed, along with fellow AU alum Zac Etheridge, have undeniably strong orange and blue roots that would make them popular targets with the fanbase to eventually take over. Firing Harsin next offseason would make fans angry, but either former Tiger would help ease the pain of another period of transition.

Ultimately, Reed is loved by the fanbase and would be welcomed in any role, but WR coach is currently in need of a new seat-filler. The WR coaching role was vacated due to the recent promotion of Eric Kiseau to OC. Kiseau, of course, replaced Cornelius Williams after a near-loss Week 4 of the 2021 season to Georgia State.
