Though National Signing Day has come and gone for the recruiting class of 2022, Auburn football is still working to fill out their roster for Bryan Harsin’s second season on the Plains and the years to come. While recruiting on the offensive side of the ball has proven to be somewhat of a challenge for the Tigers’ staff, there is plenty of action on the defensive side.

Now, Auburn football may have the chance to pick up a 4-star cornerback after Kayin Lee de-committed from the University of Georgia just this morning. According to 247 Sports, Lee’s decision comes after the Bulldogs’ defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae left for Miami and was replaced by Fran Brown.

The 4-star CB announced his decision on Twitter, following up with an ask for no interviews at this time:

Auburn Live recruiting analyst Cole Pinkston reported that Auburn football has been a consistent voice in Kayin Lee’s ear and that it’s possible the cornerback could be on campus soon for a visit.

The #17 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2023 and the #15 recruit out of the state of Georgia, Lee has picked up numerous offers from around the SEC including LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, and Ole Miss, but committed to the Bulldogs in mid-September.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports broke down Lee’s game in this segment from the CB’s scouting report:

"A lunchpail type of cornerback that is physical enough to play in the boundary, but also fluid enough to get it done on the field side. Made a name for himself as a sophomore picking off three passes and defending plenty more while competing in the Peach State’s AAA classification. Aggressive with his hands and will put his hip right on a wide receiver. Does a nice job of reading and reacting to what’s going on in front of him. Fights off blocks like a veteran and understands how to drop a ball carrier in the open field with sound tackling."

Besides Auburn football, other programs that are heavily in the mix for Kayin Lee include Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Ohio State, per Dawgs HQ. Hopefully, the Tigers can stay in Lee’s ear and pick up their second commitment in the recruiting class of 2023.
