Auburn football: Fans react to Cornelius Williams’ Alabama analyst role
The Auburn football program has seen an extreme amount of turnover on the coaching staff from 2021 to 2022, but the first coach to part ways with Bryan Harsin is now reportedly taking a new job on the other side of the state.
Originally hired on to Bryan Harsin’s inaugural staff in 2021, Cornelius Williams served as Auburn football’s wide receivers coach for just four games during the 2021 season following a six-year stint at Troy University.
Williams has coaching experience all around the state of Alabama, including stints at Troy, UAB, and Jacksonville State, and was labeled as an up-and-coming recruiter when he was hired on the Plains.
After the Tigers’ rough game versus Georgia State in September, it was announced that Auburn would be letting go of Cornelius Williams, and replacing him with a former Boise State staffer in Eric Kiesau, who is heading into 2022 as Auburn football’s offensive coordinator.
Now, Williams will be taking a new position under Nick Saban at the University of Alabama as an analyst:
The wide receiver position group dealt with issues all season long between confusion on plays and dropped passes, but the WRs did improve throughout the year with Kiesau as their coach. However, Auburn football fans definitely feel some type of way about the former Tiger taking on a position with the Tide:
Auburn football’s next wide receivers coach is Ike Hilliard, who was hired to replace Eric Kiesau at the position following his promotion to OC.
