For the fourth time in the history of the program, Auburn basketball is sitting at the mountaintop as SEC Champions.
By themselves.
There will be one banner commemorating the 2021-22 SEC Champions, and it won’t be at the Rupp Arena, Bud Walton Arena, or Thompson-Boling Arena. The Neville Arena will be the venue hanging from the rafters.
Bruce Pearl claimed his second regular-season championship in the last five years–and the last four eligible seasons considering 2020-21 was a wash due to a self-imposed postseason ban–after an 82-71 win over South Carolina on Saturday.
Tiger fans were overjoyed that this team will now go down in the annals of history as the top team in the toughest conference in the country this season:
The SEC has never been tougher. What an accomplishment!! Bruce is a wizard, best defensive team I have ever seen. War Eagle 🦅🐅 https://t.co/iLe4a5d1pu

This is all even sweeter after growing up as a fan with little hope of this type of success in basketball. https://t.co/5OrQ62MV79
