In the wake of the early ending to Auburn basketball’s season in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32, the Tigers’ roster is already changing shape. While fans wait for decisions about their respective futures from Jabari Smith Jr. and Walker Kessler, junior guard Devin Cambridge announced today that he would be entering the NCAA transfer portal.

4-star shooting guard Chance Westry and 3-star point guard Tre Donaldson are already on deck for the Tigers, and Bruce Pearl and his coaching staff are also going after recent LSU de-commits Yohan Traore (5-star power forward/center) and Julian Phillips (5-star power forward).

Today news broke that Auburn basketball has also reached out to recent transfer portal entry Erik Stevenson, who spent last season playing for the South Carolina Gamecocks:

Prior to arriving at South Carolina, Stevenson played for Wichita State and Washington but quickly established himself as a team leader for the Gamecocks, according to The State, and was the only player on the team to start in all 31 games.

Stevenson finished up his year in Columbia averaging 11.6 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting at 36.9 percent from the field. He led the Gamecocks in three-pointers with 60 on the season and also shot at 98.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The 6-foot-4 guard enters the transfer portal as a graduate transfer following the firing of South Carolina’s head coach Frank Martin earlier this month.

While his free-throw shooting would be a huge asset to the Tigers, whose best free-throw shooter this season was Wendell Green Jr. at 84.4 percent, the roster is also teeming with guards, so it would be interesting for Stevenson to find his way to the Plains.
