While Auburn basketball fans are still likely suffering from a shocking upset in the Round of 32 at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes, Sunday afternoon provided a moment of cathartic bliss.

CBS Sports took a dig at the Alabama Crimson Tide–as well as Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and 14 other schools–in a tweet celebrating St. Peters’ first (and maybe last?) Elite Eight appearance.

Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Northwestern, and Nebraska all seriously took strays with CBS Sports pointing out the lack of a single Elite Eight appearance ever. Everyone else listed has as many postseason runs this deep and was called out for having the resources to do better than the previously unknown MAAC program.

Check the quote tweets, and you’ll see a whole bunch of Peacock supporters, though primarily of the orange and blue variety.

Auburn basketball narrowly avoided this list

Auburn fans must cherish the 1986 and 2019 teams–although it’s not as though that hasn’t been happening–for keeping the AU logo off of this graphic.

As for the St. Peters Peacocks, their run is over, and the ‘Auburn is a blue blood’ talk may need to be put away given this year’s Final Four: UNC, Duke, Kansas, and Villanova. It doesn’t get much more corporate than that. Bleh.

It’s at least good thing the peacock logo at least lasted until the Elite Eight. It was a good run, St. Peters.

As good of a run as Alabama, Tennessee, and others have ever had.
