Former Auburn football QB Bo Nix may not have gotten all that he bargained for when he took the leap of faith into the transfer portal after a season-ending ankle injury in 2021 ended a three-year career on the Plains.

Nix used his immediate graduate transfer eligibility to join his 2019 AU OC Kenny Dillingham in Eugene, Oregon with the Ducks in the Pac-12. Of course, his freshman season pre-COVID was the best of his three-year career with the Tigers statistically, so it made sense to start anew with Dillingham by his side.

That said, things aren’t working out as the second generation Auburn legacy signal-caller likely hoped they would with his new home.

Ty Thompson is ahead of Nix on the Oregon QB depth chart and Auburn football fans aren’t holding back in their responses:

Auburn football QB transfer Bo Nix could make Tigers look bad in 2022…or vice versa

Nix is not off to the races, and is instead losing ground to a sophomore. That doesn’t bode well for his future with Oregon. If Thompson grabs a hold of the starting job, it’s not clear if Nix could ever get it back.

Recently, I said that Nix could make Auburn look bad in 2022 with a strong season, but the inverse is equally possible.

If T.J. Finley were to lead the Tigers to success after a poor stint as Nix’s understudy in 2021, it’d make the former orange and blue #10 look bad for leaving a program that was on the upswing. Ditto for if Zach Calzada comes in and establishes himself under center with Nix’s old number.

It’s early, but Nix has serious work to do for his own image in Oregon.
