With just one day to go until the annual (save 2020) Auburn football A-Day spring game, the anticipation for what the offense is going to look like in 2022 is fleeting. Reality is about to set in on the Plains.

What that reality is will be determined at 1 P.M. central time on Saturday afternoon, which is, of course, the first of its kind featuring college football at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2022. Even if it doesn’t count in the standings and several freshmen contributors haven’t hit campus yet.

Jason Caldwell of 247Sports has a hot take for the game itself, prognosticating someone that reached Auburn as a walk-on (since earning a scholarship) will be the offensive MVP.

That’d be second-year Trussville product Sean Jackson:

"A player who I have liked since seeing him run and catch the ball at Hewitt-Trussville High, Jackson isn’t your normal walk-on and seeing him get a scholarship at Auburn wasn’t a surprise at all. If I had to put money down on an offensive MVP for Saturday, I would leave heavily towards Jackson. With Tank Bigsby expected to get limited work and no Jarquez Hunter while he recovers from an injury, Jackson could be a workhorse on Saturday."

Injury could open up the door for Sean Jackson in the Auburn football RB room.

Sometimes, one man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity. Jarquez Hunter’s absence could be the opening Sean Jackson needs to break through as the RB2 this coming season.

That Damari Alston hasn’t made it to campus yet is a glaring positive for Jackson. He won’t have to battle public opinion in the hypothetical case that the 4-star Class of 22 rusher Alston showed out enough during the spring exhibition.

We’ll see if Caldwell has his finger on the pulse come Saturday afternoon at 2 P.M. eastern time or if the focus of the 2022 Auburn football offense, the run game, is still a work in progress.
