Auburn football battling LSU for 4-star WR target Khai Prean
With the 2022 A-Day taking place on the Plains this weekend, fans rolled into Jordan-Hare Stadium to see Auburn football’s official spring game, but they were not the only ones interested in the Tigers on Saturday.
Head coach Bryan Harsin and the rest of the Tigers’ coaching staff also played host to a number of high-priority recruits at the game, including 4-star ATH Khai Prean. He’s listed as the #240 overall prospect and the #18 ATH in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as the #15 recruit out of the state of Louisiana.
The Louisiana native played both running back and wide receiver at the high school level, but it seems that Auburn football has narrowed its focus to Prean’s WR abilities.
Prean’s trip to the Plains for A-Day was his third visit with Auburn football, but the main competition in his recruitment is, unsurprisingly, LSU. While wide receivers coach Ike Hilliard is heavily involved in getting Prean to commit to the Tigers, fellow Louisiana native Trovon Reed is also playing a major role.
According to Auburn Live, Prean’s relationship with Reed is rock solid, but what attracts him most to the Tigers is the opportunity to put in the work and get early playing time:
"“I like the receiver room, but I can also see that if I come in, I put the work in, and show that I want to play that I would have the opportunity to play as a freshman.”"
Prean noted that he saw improvements in the Tigers’ offense during the A-Day game, and he always enjoys the energy surrounding Auburn football.
While it may be a long recruiting battle between LSU and Auburn for the 4-star ATH, the Tigers continue to make good impressions on the WR target and the relationship between Trovon Reed and Khai Prean will be key in ultimately securing his commitment.
