When we previously checked in on former Auburn football QB Bo Nix in Oregon spring camp, the Pinson, Alabama product was sitting comfortably behind Ty Thompson on the Ducks’ QB depth chart.

Now, the tide has been turned, and Nix is the QB1 under his old offensive coordinator on the Plains, Kenny Dillingham, once again.

Sports Illustrated’s Ducks Daily photographer Scott Boldt caught photos of the action out in Eugene, Oregon, with DD’s Max Torres providing context to their April 12th practice.

Evidently, Nix is taking first-team reps. While he wasn’t perfect, he had the primary offensive highlight and was described in a more positive light than Thompson and Jay Butterfield:

"The media was allowed to view another rapid-fire 11-on-11 session on Tuesday. The quarterbacks were led by Bo Nix, who got the first reps, then Jay Butterfield and Ty Thompson rounded out the third unit we saw. The 11-on-11 portion was very fast up-tempo. The coaches also mixed in a variety of situational work.Nix’s main highlight came on a nice back-shoulder throw to Cardwell, who hauled it in near the sideline and was able to get his feet inbounds. The two weren’t able to sync up on the other pass attempt of that drive."

Auburn football QB transfer Bo Nix could end up as the starter in Oregon

It would have been a bad look for Bo Nix to go to Oregon and lose the QB battle to a player who has attempted 15 passes at the collegiate level. Luckily, it appears as though the Auburn man will be representing the spirit of the Plains with pride on the west coast as the signal-caller for one of the Pac-12’s biggest conference title threats.

The Oregon spring game is April 23rd. That will be a major litmus test for the former Tiger-turned-Duck in the 2022 Oregon QB battle.
