One of Auburn football’s top priorities when it comes to recruiting the class of 2023 is to add plenty of talent to the offensive line room. So far, the Tigers have only two commitments in the class of 2023, and one is offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner.
Now, head coach Bryan Harsin and his staff have zeroed in on 4-star OT and Tuscaloosa native Wilkin Formby. According to 247 Sports, Formby is ranked as the #151 overall prospect and #16 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2023, and the #14 recruit out of the state of Alabama.
He has been a top target for the Tigers, and according to On3 Sports, he is one of 20 prospects on the board regardless of position. The OT cut his list of schools down to five, and Auburn football made the cut, along with Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss:
On3 Sports also reports that Formby has visited the Plains five times on record, more than any other school except hometown Alabama, which is likely the biggest competitor for the Tigers in landing the 4-star OT along with Ole Miss.
However, he spoke very highly of his most recent Plains visit, calling it his most important, and was especially impressed with the Tigers’ coaching staff, per Auburn Live:
"“Coach Harsin is a great guy and a great coach,” Formby said. “He’s a great coach as far as Xs and Os, but he’s also a great person as well. All of the coaches are. They are good people as well as good coaches. They’re about relationships and important stuff like that. And they’re going to coach you and push you hard, develop trust with you so that they can coach you even harder.”"
Formby is scheduled to visit Ole Miss this weekend after spending last weekend at Tennessee and the weekend before in Auburn.
