Auburn football: Bradyn Joiner recruiting Tony Mitchell, Jahlil Hurley
Auburn football has been hard at work on the recruiting trail since the end of spring training, taking to the road to visit high schools across the state and also hosting recruits on Auburn’s campus.
Two of the Tigers’ biggest targets, a pair of cornerbacks, in the recruiting class of 2023 made their way to the Plains this weekend for their first visits to campus since last fall. 5-star cornerbacks Tony Mitchell and Jahlil Hurley, both major in-state recruits, visited over the weekend, allowing the Tigers a huge opportunity to sway them towards ultimately choosing Auburn.
Tony Mitchell is ranked as the #20 overall prospect and the #3 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2023, in addition to being the #3 recruit out of the state of Alabama. Other schools going after Mitchell include Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Florida, all programs that he has visited over the spring.
Jahlil Hurley is ranked as the #23 overall prospect and the #4 cornerback in the recruiting class of 2023 and the #4 recruit out of the state of Alabama. The Florence, AL, native has been committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide since February but has never given up communication with Auburn football and Zac Etheridge.
Also on campus this weekend was the Tigers’ very first commit in the class of 2023, offensive lineman and Auburn native Bradyn Joiner. The OL is strongly committed to Auburn, and has seemingly taken over the recruiting role that running back Damari Alston had in the class of 2022 in trying to get recruits to come to the Plains:
Flipping a 5-star commitment from Alabama to Auburn would be a huge win for second-year head coach Bryan Harsin, and with Zac Etheridge heavily involved in Hurley’s recruitment it’s completely possible.
