Auburn football: Top running back prospect locks in AU visit
If there’s one position that Auburn football consistently recruits well, it’s running backs. The legacy of running backs on the Plains goes back years, but its current iteration comes in the form of Tank Bigsby, along with the help of Jarquez Hunter and, soon, Damari Alston.
With a running back already signed and locked in for the recruiting class of 2022, the Tigers have now turned to the class of 2023 to find the next great Auburn ball carrier.
The coaching staff extended an offer to California running back Roderick Robinson at the end of March, and are working to get him to commit to the orange and blue. Robinson is ranked as the #411 overall prospect and the #27 running back in the recruiting class of 2023, as well as the #25 recruit out of the state of California.
The offer from Auburn football is a little late in Robinson’s recruitment seeing as he listed his top schools on March 18 before the Tigers were a possibility. His top schools list included Tennessee, Oregon, USC, Miami, Cal, Arizona, Texas A&M, Stanford, and UCLA.
Robinson has been speaking frequently with his would-be position coach Cadillac Williams, and according to Auburn Live, relationships are an important part of recruitment for Robinson:
"“It’s very important to me,” Robinson said. “I want to make sure I have a good relationship with the coaches, make sure the place feels like home and that it’s the right place for me.”"
The Tigers are working to get to the top of Robinson’s list, and his relationship with Coach Williams has led to Robinson scheduling his first visit to the Plains, an unofficial visit, on May 4.
Auburn Undercover reports that Robinson intends to take three official visits in the month of June, and plans to announce his decision in the fall on August 18 so he can focus on his senior year.
