The Auburn football program is clearly in a far more favorable spot in 2022 than is portrayed by most media members.
Las Vegas gave the Tigers the fifth-best 2022 SEC Championship odds at +4000. LSU was also given a $4,000 profit for a $100 bet.
Defending champion Alabama was given the best odds, at -140 (or, for non-bettors, $140 wager to win $100 profit), followed by Georgia at +110, with both Ole Miss and Texas A&M in a distant third, both at +2000.
Auburn football fans were surprised about the Tigers’ title odds, though some understand the game Vegas is playing that it doesn’t want to lose like they have before:

Vegas isn’t going to let Auburn burn them ever again after 2013 lol. https://t.co/IzejL2dzf0

Auburn football could use a strong September to build their SEC title hype
The first four games of the 2022 schedule will take place within the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium. Penn State and Missouri will be no pushovers, and the Tigers could enter the Nittany Lions game September 17th as slight underdogs.
That said, if Auburn is going to be mentioned in the same breath as the SEC title, there will need to be some early season triumphs against non-SEC opponents. Come October, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss precede the bye week, so owning one loss (at most) heading into the break should be the goal.
An SEC Championship is a pipe-dream at this point, but Fly War Eagle isn’t going to stop anyone from throwing in a small chunk of cheddar into the remote possibility that Bryan Harsin engineers one of the greatest one-year turnarounds in the history of college football en route to a historic title (and betting payday) on the Plains.
