As a program with a big reputation at the running back position, it’s no surprise that the Auburn football coaching staff has set their sights on top RB prospects in the recruiting class of 2023.
The Tigers offered 4-star running back and California native Roderick Robinson late in his recruitment, after he had already narrowed down his potential choices to a list of nine. Robinson is ranked as the #413 overall prospect and the #28 running back in the recruiting class of 2023 and is listed as the #25 recruit out of the state of California.
Although head coach Bryan Harsin has been emphatic about Auburn football’s in-state recruiting efforts, there are also targets across the country who have caught the Tigers’ attention, including Robinson, who has been speaking quite frequently with his would-be position coach Cadillac Williams.
He took his first visit to the Plains on May 4, but according to Auburn Live, Robinson is somewhat familiar with the Auburn area already because he has a family member from there. Three days after his visit, he announced his final six schools. Despite the fact that Auburn football was not in his top 9, the Tigers made the cut in Robinson’s top 6:
While Auburn football was added to the list, Robinson dropped USC, Miami, Texas A&M, and Stanford from his original top 9 list, keeping California, UCLA, Tennessee, Arizona, and Oregon. It’s too soon to say where he’ll end up, but there is real interest between the RB and Auburn.
As far as recruiting other running backs in the class of 2023, the Tigers are focused on signing Montgomery-area running back Jeremiah Cobb in addition to securing Robinson.
