Auburn basketball fans were losing it trying to figure out what a reporter’s tweet about Julian Phillips–who will be announcing his 2022-23 destination tomorrow–meant on Wednesday afternoon.
Andrew Slater, who serves as Pro Insight’s Director of Scouting and a voter for the Naismith Trophy and Spalding All-American for high school honors, said that he knew where Phillips was set to commit.
And that it’s fortunate/unfortunate news.
Auburn basketball fans (and Volunteer faithful) needed clarity on such an ambiguous tweet so soon ahead of Phillips’ commitment, which could end up being another NBA G-League poach from the collegiate ranks:

either way, sounds like Phillips’ has made his decision and we’ll hear it tomorrow https://t.co/6DpTb18CUr
Auburn basketball has had a stellar offseason regardless of what Julian Phillips decides
There’s a sinking feeling for many Tiger fans that the optimism of just a few weeks ago was for naught, with a G-League decision looking like a strong possibility.
That said, with Yohan Traore and Johni Broome replacing Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler in the frontcourt, and Chance Westry and Tre Donaldson infusing talent along the perimeter, Bruce Pearl and co. have done a fine job this offseason regardless of what Phillips decides.
