Former Auburn football DL coach Nick Eason caught all the smoke from Opelika-Auburn News‘ Justin Lee on Monday afternoon for his hypocritical views of the transfer portal.

The current Clemson DL coach–who left the Plains this offseason for his alma mater–Eason tweeted out a GIF of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump character running with the caption: “My definition of the transfer portal: If you don’t want to compete, RUN!” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

The message was a clear shot at roughly 2,500 players that hit the transfer portal annually. OAN’s Lee was not having it from a coach who just left the Auburn football program and may have little room to speak about leaving a team.

Here was his Twitter clap back to Eason’s egregious tweet:

Auburn football fans were at a fever pitch following the social media violence that was unfolding in front of them:

Not everyone agreed with Lee on the matter…

Auburn football is closer as a program in 2022 than 2021

Anybody you ask on the Auburn beat will tell you that this year’s Tigers are closer than last year’s. That may not mean AU even gets to the six-win benchmark once again, with LSU and Arkansas projecting to improve over last season, and the Ole Miss and Mississippi State games being on the road. Half of their other opponents will be teams that beat them last season, and the talent level has arguably reduced via the transfer portal and NFL defections. That said, perhaps it could be that unity that creates special moments on Pat Dye Field in Jordan-Hare Stadium and allows Auburn to actually improve on its record this season.

Either way, the coaching staff loss of Eason is seeming like less than a negative by the day since he is back home with his alma mater and is tweeting out nonsense like this.
