Auburn football fans got busy on Tuesday afternoon after seeing Tuskegee HC Reginald Ruffin call out Nick Saban over his accusations of illegal recruitment practices against Jackson State HC and fellow HBCU sideline leader Deion ‘Prime Time’ Sanders last week.
In a post on Facebook, Ruffin was fired up in sharing his thoughts that Saban should have chosen his words more wisely. He later called him out for Alabama’s refusal to play the HBCUs across the state:
"“Sometimes you say things you don’t really mean and you hurt people or loved ones in the process. Coach Saban shouldn’t have said anything about any other coaches, team, or players. Just say you’re sorry in public and walk down to your AD’s office and say, ‘We need to play all the FCS HBCUs in the state of Alabama, because we are the only university in the state not playing the Alabama States or Alabama A&Ms in our great state.”"
Auburn football fans spark debate on Twitter about the story
Justin Lee, whose piece with the Opelika-Auburn News brought the call-put to the public, inspired plenty of debate over the comments and whether or not it’s even worth it for top Power Five programs to face FCS teams:
So you want a 12 game Power 5 schedule? That will lead to more injuries and this is about player safety?

That's literally never happened. D1-FBS teams also do not play D2 or D3 teams. FBS can play FCS, both Division I, and these games happen every year and there's no uptick in injury in those games. You're just making this up.

Needless to say, things got heated…
ALL of these athletes are in the top 2%, 1% of football players their age. They're all fit to see the field. I know you're mad you don't get to watch closer games with your Cheetos, but don't insult the kids and the work they do.
