The 2022 Auburn football season is one that may inspire trepidation or unfound confidence depending on who you talk to.
For those bullish on what Bryan Harsin could accomplish in his second season on the Plains, it comes down to believing that the talent was present in 2022…but also that the cohesion was sorely lacking. On the opposite side of the coin, a talent-depleted roster may have lost the reason why the Tigers won six games in the first place (Bo Nix) and didn’t do enough in the transfer portal and the Class of 2022 recruitment to make up for all of the departures to the NFL/other schools.
Auburn football fans took to Twitter Wednesday to figure out when it’ll be clearer which side of the fence it’s more appropriate to be on.
Jake Crain of Crain & Company believes it’ll be Penn State on September 25th:
Will the Penn State game be the dictator for how Auburn’s season will go?
Typically I would say no but in Auburn’s current situation I think it’s a yes.

He had company that shared that opinion:
I think so.

It’s a must win considering it’s a home game.

Justin Hokanson of On3, on the other hand, feels that the LSU game October 1st is the true barometer for how the 2022 season is going to unfold:
I may actually go LSU. Lose to PSU, beat Mizzou, and the LSU game is huge. Beat PSU and lose to Mizzou, and LSU is even bigger. I think that LSU game may be the barometer.

What do you think Auburn fans? Is Penn State the game best fit to prognosticate the rest of the schedule, or will LSU coming to the Plains for the fifth straight home game to kick off the schedule be the defining matchup?
