Did a sportsbook’s Heisman odds provide a key clue for Auburn football fans about who the starting QB for the Tigers will be in 2022?

At the very least, many in the Auburn family likely hope that it is.

As we know, Las Vegas typically has its finger on the pulse for what is going to happen in the sports world, and sometimes elsewhere too. Any jaded bettor that has ever suffered the heartbreak of a bad beat on a spread bet knows that fact all too well.

So keeping that in mind, what do you think about the fact that Auburn football transfer QB Zach Calzada (originally a Texas A&M commit) is listed for the Heisman trophy at -10000 odds?

All signs point to Auburn football choosing Zach Calzada as QB1

A-Day was truly the best chance for T.J. Finley to silence the doubters that may not think he is the best option for Auburn football under center, but he didn’t stand out relative to the other two signal-callers present at the annual spring game April 9th.

In fact, Robby Ashford’s MVP outing convinced a large number of Tiger fans that the Hoover High School alum was actually the go-to-guy in 2022. Ashford had a strong read of the defense and constantly made plays–with both his feet scrambling out of the pocket and with his arm in it–to move the ball down the field.

Holden Geriner was even crisper throwing the ball, finishing with just two incompletions and nearly leading Team Auburn to a come-from-behind victory at the last second after a Landen King two-point conversion try couldn’t successfully follow up their TD connection.

As impressive as Ashford and Geriner were, it’s Calzada’s presence that will mark the true start of the QB competition. And if this sportsbook is to be believed, he’ll be the one on the field building a (dare I say) dark horse resume for the Heisman.
