Auburn basketball HC Bruce Pearl made fans of Chance Westry happy with his latest comments about the incoming freshman out of Compass Prep in Arizona.

Pearl said the six-foot-six wing would be getting playing time during the upcoming 2022-23 season. In fact, he took it a step further, and challenged the other Tigers on the roster to figure out the fit around him:

"“I think Chance is going to be on the floor, so the other guys are going to have to figure it out.”"

Pearl implied that he’d take the adjustments upon himself to get Westry on the floor by any means necessary:

"“He may get moved around based on the strengths of the other players, and where they move him, but he’s going to be out there.”"

Bruce Pearl has hinted at big roles for Jaylin Williams and Chance Westry

At the conclusion of the Tigers’ 79-61 loss to Miami in the March Madness Round of 32, Bruce Pearl projected a key role for Jaylin Williams in 2022-23:

That was said before Johni Broome and Yohan Traore were nabbed in the transfer portal and Will Wade foreclosure sale at LSU, respectively. Still, it stands to reason that senior-to-be Jaylin Williams is going to have a major role with the team this upcoming winter, along with fellow upperclassmen/NBA prospect Allen Flanigan.

Veteran teams tend to win when the going gets rough in March, so finding that right balance will be crucial, but it’s clear that Bruce Pearl is making sure Chance Westry is part of the equation either way.
