Once again, Auburn football is staying squarely in the race for a top prospect in the recruiting class of 2023. 4-star offensive lineman DJ Chester narrowed his list down to 12 schools over the weekend and included the Tigers.

Chester is ranked as the #179 overall prospect and the #19 offensive tackle in the recruiting class of 2023 as well as being the #16 recruit out of the state of Georgia. He made it to the Plains for a spring visit and is likely to return for an official.

Now, the offensive tackle has named 11 schools Auburn football will have to beat to land his commitment in Miami, NC State, Ole Miss, Florida State, LSU, Michigan State, Florida A&M, Nebraska, Michigan, USC, and South Carolina.

Chester made it clear to On3 Sports that a family atmosphere is extremely important to him in choosing a future school, which makes Auburn a great place for the OT to consider:

"“I want to go somewhere that has a family atmosphere. Somewhere that I can know my mom, my dad and my sisters can just come and have no worries. I’m a big family dude. It’s God and then my family. I want to be at a place where I can grow not only as a football player but as a man. Football is more than just a game. It’s about a mentality too.”"

Auburn Live also reported that the Tigers feel like they are in a good spot to earn an official visit from DJ Chester, and On3 Sports’ Recruiting Prediction Machine has Auburn football in the lead in the OT’s recruitment at this point.

Chester is sure to make more cuts as the summer goes on and he takes visits to various programs, but the Tigers are currently doing well with the top prospect.
