Auburn baseball has been lighting up Plainsman Park all weekend. After going for 19 runs against Southeastern Louisiana, Florida State was the next victim, going down 21-7 in a final that was a football score.

The Tigers’ bats cannot be contained right now. But their pitching has not been as dominant.

Their starting pitching has been good enough to get by–averaging 3.5 runs between Joseph Gonzales’ six innings against the Seminoles and Trace Bright’s five-inning, 101-pitch outing Friday night–but the bullpen has had one rough outing per night during the 2022 Road to the College World Series Regional Round. Carson Swilling had a rough time Saturday night, while Konner Copeland was the struggling reliever Friday.

Now, back to the bats. 39 runs per game. 10 home runs total. It’s been a wild ride from the Auburn baseball bats thus far. Cole Foster was Friday night’s hero, going 3-4 with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs. Foster had a Grand Slam, a 3-run HR, & 2-run HR. Against FSU, Brody Moore was a perfect five-for-five with five hits, five RBIs, and two walks. Kason Howell was right behind him with four RBIs in two hits with two walks as well.

It’s been a wild weekend at Plainsman Park, and one that has brought fans out in full force after the suffering that was the cancelled 2020 season and half-capacity 2021 follow-up. From home-plate to right field to the packed Plainsman Park parking deck, the Auburn family has delivered an atmosphere to remember for the visiting fans and for the viewing audience.

Now, onto UCLA. The Bruins beat FSU Sunday afternoon to set up the championship matchup for Auburn baseball. If the Tigers can down UCLA, they’d be onto the Super Regionals. If not, a deciding game takes place Monday night.
