Auburn basketball fans had fun with the latest transfer portal news regarding former Tiger Justin Powell…just like they did last year when he left the Plains for Rocky Top.

Like death and taxes, Powell not liking his role and finding a new home in the transfer portal is one of life’s inevitabilities.

After receiving 27 minutes per game from Auburn basketball HC Bruce Pearl in his freshman year–all ahead of Sharife Cooper’s return from a poorly-explained NCAA-imposed suspension–the Prospect, Kentucky blue chipper’s minutes dwindled to just 14 per game with Tennessee in 2021-22. Now, Powell is taking his talents to Washington State, where he once again hopes to have found a home that will give him what he feels is fair playing time.

Auburn basketball fans had a field day with the annual Powell portal switch, with several noting that he’ll be playing former Tiger Devan Cambridge and his new school, Arizona State, this coming season:

Powell’s best days were on the Plains, but he lost most support from the Auburn family after a messy breakup.

It’s more likely you’ll hear a Sky Bar joke than any positive memories when the name Justin Powell is evoked.
