In order to make it to the 2022 College World Series Super Regionals, Auburn baseball had to play its best ball during the Regional Round of the Road to the CWS.

51 runs in three games later, it’s far to say the Tigers delivered on that promise. AU dominated Southeastern Louisiana, Florida State, and UCLA in short order to set up this weekend’s coast-to-coast clash between the Tigers and Oregon State Beavers.

Auburn baseball HC Butch Thompson understands that there’s not much further up to go in terms of their level of play.

Thompson said that he needs to see the Tigers simply maintain their offensive excellence, and have each pitcher, fielder, and hitter execute called upon:

"“Most of our talks will be about doubling down on our identity, who we are. We can’t play better than we did last weekend. The biggest challenge for us is trying to maintain and stay there. The score will take care of itself, and this will come down to execution, whether we’re playing at Plainsman Park or a 41-hour drive away, this thing will come down to execution.”"

Will Auburn execute the game-plan Saturday night or go down in an 0-1 hole in Corvallis, Oregon with a do-or-die scenario arising for Sunday?

Auburn vs Oregon State prediction

AU will face a seismic challenge from SP Cooper Hjerpe, a finalist for the ‘Golden Spikes Award’, which is given annually to the nation’s top amateur player. Hjerpe could be the anecdote to slowing down the Tigers’ active bats.

Away from their home-park, the Tigers could finally be due for a loss Saturday night, though that far from guarantees their exit from the CWS.
