Auburn football HC Bryan Harsin hasn’t had an ideal tenure with the Tigers so far, but there is room to improve and grow on the Plains for the Boise native. If that room is granted to him, it will be because the recruiting tide is set to turn since the Class of 2023 has seen very few commits thus far.
There is not one skill position recruit ticketed to join the team next spring/summer, and there are only two upcoming high school seniors that know they will be playing on the Plains at the next level of competitive football. Only Auburn High School interior offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner and Fairburn safety Terrance Love have committed to the class so far.
The Tigers have been rapidly losing ground on the recruiting trail in the two years Harsin has been Auburn football HC, descending to the point where a big-name Class of 2023 addition would be considered a savior.
Lausanne (Tenn.) Collegiate’s Brock Glenn could be that savior for AU. AL.com’s Nick Alvarez framed it as such when talking about the team’s quarterback situation moving forward, writing off Robby Ashford and Holden Geriner — who both have three years of eligibility left after 2022.
Alvarez essentially said that after missing out on Birmingham area QB Christopher Vizzina, the team can’t miss out on Glenn:
"“An inability to land Glenn, after also missing on Briarwood Christian’s Christopher Vizzina, would leave Auburn with another question mark under center, not unlike the one facing head coach Bryan Harsin in his second year.”"
Auburn football needs Brock Glenn for Bryan Harsin’s sake
It cannot be a thing, where the second-year head coach of the Auburn football program is facing a second straight offseason where there isn’t an obvious first choice under center, in 2023. Especially when the QB option his first year (Bo Nix) was Bryan Harsin’s predecessor’s recruit.
Landing Brock Glenn is Harsin’s chance to build goodwill in 2022 in a season the Tigers are projected to finish towards the bottom of the SEC West.
